The secret to the deliciousness of Kame-chan Mikan Oranges
It’s our unique, intensive cultivation method.
“Carefully preparing the soil,” “not using herbicides” and “adjusting when the fertilizer is used.”
We take particular care in preparing the soil.
We add bacillus subtilis natto to fallen leaves and reeds collected from the mountains of Osaki-Kamijima and let them decompose, encouraging nutrient uptake from the roots.
Plus, bacillus subtilis natto is said to inhibit pathogen growth, and to activate the natural bacteria that boost mikan orange growth.

Introducing Osaki-Kamijima
Osaki-Kamijima is a remote island of Hiroshima Prefecture in the center of the Seto Inland Sea.
The warm temperatures and abundant sunlight on the mountain slopes offer the ideal environment for growing mikan oranges.
